Product Description
From one of the nation’s most trusted experts on children’s bedtime and nap time comes a new guide for sleep-training twins so that everybody (including Mom and Dad) will be rested and happy!

As parents of twins and multiples know, double the fun can be double the sleep deprivation. Now, in Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Twins, beloved pediatrician and renowned sleep authority Dr. Marc Weissbluth combines specialized advice for parents of twins with his tried-and-true sleep-training methods to show exhausted moms and dads how to get their babies to sleep on their own, stay asleep, and sleep regularly. This essential step-by-step guide to establishing good sleep patterns reveals how to build healthy habits in twins’ natural slumber cycles, including

• how healthy sleep differs from “junk” sleep, plus a helpful tutorial on the techniques of sleep training for new parents
• the five ingredients of healthy sleep, and why daytime sleep is different from nighttime sleep but equally important to good health
• why it’s crucial for babies to master the ability to fall asleep unassisted, without protest or crying, and how to help them do so
• essential tips for synchronizing your twins’ sleep schedules, plus information about how twins sleep best–when to keep them together, and when it’s time to separate them
• how to recognize early drowsy cues in your babies so you can catch the sleep wave before it turns into nervous energy that will keep them awake

Sleep-training twins presents a unique set of challenges. This invaluable guide will not only get your babies to sleep through the night but help you stay healthy and rested so you can enjoy the many blessings of having more than one!

5 out of 5 stars Essential Survival Guide   August 17, 2009

As a mother of twins, I am sincerely grateful for this incredibly helpful book. Dr. Weissbluth's sleep advice literally improved the quality of our lives: we followed his advice word for word, and our twins literally began sleeping through the night within days--which enabled us to sleep through the night too! Also, the twin's daytime sleep improved as well, and their nap schedules provided us with much needed free time. I found the book easy to read, concise, and it provided concrete steps for creating healthy sleep habits. I read the entire book in one night, and could immediately implement Dr. Weissbluth's advice. We have not found another book anywhere that specifically tailors sleep advice to twins: this is a must-have survival guide for any parent of multiples.

5 out of 5 stars A Must-Have for Twins (espeically preemies).....He was our pediatrician   December 26, 2009

I am a mother of 29 week fraternal twins, and I am thankful every night that we were lucky enough to have Dr. Weissbluth as our pediatrician. We jokingly refer to Dr. W as "the baby whisperer" in our home. All of our relatives are astounded at how well our kids sleep. They are happy and well-adjusted throughout the day, and simply reply "okay!" every time we ask them to go to bed at night or to take a nap. Our entire family is well-rested! He is the reason that my twins, who were 11 weeks premature, had almost no developmental delays, because they were able to sleep and grow.

This book is especially good if you twins are fraternal (which are more difficult, because their sleep patterns will be different) and if they are premature (one of my kids spent 1 month in the NICU, while the other spent 6 months, and was woken up every 3 hours). We thought we might never get them on a schedule to be able to share a room! Dr. W had them sharing a room and sleeping 12 hours a night within 6 weeks!

I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone with multiples, along with his other book. My twins are now 2 years old and continue to take one nap a day and sleep 12 hours at night. Because of his sound recommendations, my twins are easier than any child I have ever seen. No tantrums, no fighting bed time, and I am so grateful!

5 out of 5 stars So helpful   September 3, 2009

I bought this after a girlfriend told me about reading the singleton version. Before reading this book I felt like I was at the mercy of my babies. Using the suggestions and tactics of this book, we now have a regular routine and we are all so much happier :)

5 out of 5 stars Great book for new parents   December 28, 2009

Another mother recommended that I get this author's original bestseller, "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." When I realized he adapted this for parents of twins, I took a chance on this version of the book. It is concise yet full of very practical and effective information. I reccommend this is to any parent struggling with the challenge of sleep-training their twin infants.

5 out of 5 stars Easy, quick read   June 27, 2010

So much easier to consume than his previous book on healthy sleep habits. Also, a quick read and easy to refer to later on when you need reminding...
